ECSACO/ICI MULTI-DISCIPLINARY CANCER MANAGEMENT SERIES

Introduction

The East Central & Southern Africa College of Oncologists (ECSACO) is a professional body whose purpose is to advance and foster postgraduate education in oncology and lead in providing cancer care training throughout the East, Central, and Southern Africa (ECSA) region. The resolution to establish the College was made in November 2016, from a meeting that brought together various healthcare professionals and players in the cancer care realm upon the realization that there was a need to address the shortfall of the oncology workforce in the region. Since then, the steering team embarked on a journey to have the College registered and recognized as the main regional Oncology training body for cancer care professionals. This has been facilitated by the International Cancer Institute (ICI), tasked with midwifing the College by assisting with its functions and registration process by providing the secretariat and initiating collaborations between members across the region.

ECSACO has membership from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, DRC, Malawi, Zambia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, RSA, Eswatini, Botswana, Burundi, Ethiopia and Namibia. International Cancer Institute (ICI) in collaboration with ECSACO is running a  Multi-disciplinary Cancer Management Continuing Medical Education (CME) program to address crucial aspects of cancer management. This program brings together experts and professionals from various disciplines to share insights, exchange knowledge, and discuss the latest advancements in the management of different cancers. The multidisciplinary nature of the audience ensures a comprehensive approach to understanding and addressing the challenges associated with managing cancers.

The program will be held virtually every 4th Wednesday of the month from 6:30 pm EAT to 8.00 pm EAT. The first event is, therefore, scheduled for Wednesday, 21st
February 2024 from 6:30 pm EAT to 8:00 pm EAT and the topic will be on The Multidisciplinary Management of Prostate Cancer.
